EGX ends Monday in red, hurt by local sales

ArabFinance: Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) turned to losses on Monday.

The benchmark index EGX30 inched down 0.09% to close at 15,055 points; the small and medium-sized enterprises index EGX70 decreased 0.48% to close at 669.6 points; and the broader index EGX100 edged down 0.42% to close at 1,708.96 points.

Trading volume reached 82.8 million shares, with a total value of EGP 842.69 million over 16,705 trades. Market capitalization amounted to EGP 819 billion.

Today, the gainers reached 36 companies of the total listed stocks (185), while decliners were 91 companies, and unchanged were amounting to 58 companies.

Egyptian investors made 57.9% of today's action, while Arab investors recorded 5.68% and foreign investors made 36.4%.

Egyptian investors were net sellers by EGP 201.86 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP 201 million and EGP 380,273, respectively.

Individuals made 36.4% of trades, versus 63.57% by Institutions.

Moreover, the volume leaders were led by Orascom Investment Holding (OIH), which went down 0.34% to close at EGP 0.58, with 13.57 million shares in volume.

Palm Hills Developments S.A.E. (PHDC) came second, adding 0.78% to close at EGP 2.58, with 6.8 million shares in volume.

This was followed by Qalaa Holdings (CCAP) that lost 1.03% and closed at EGP 3.8, with 5.4 million shares in volume.

Electro Cable Egypt (ELEC) also shed 0.2% and closed at EGP 1.35, with 4.57 million shares in volume, followed by Eastern Tobacco (EAST) which rose 1.3% to close at EGP 18.6 and 3.55 million shares in volume.
